I am a creative person with writing being simply who I am. It is my gift, serving as an outlet of expression where I have freedom to help others as well as be who I truly am. I use it to educate and entertain, to serve others by providing material that is easy to understand and even easier for them to enjoy. Writing is just a part of my life and what I have been gifted with! My hope is that I can use my gifts to make life more exciting for all readers!
When I was a child, my mother would take me and my two sisters to the public library as much as possible. Being surrounded by those books, those stories, the creativity of so many authors, seeped into my bones sending my imagination to new heights. I learned how writing led to a life full of familiarity as well as possibilities shaped by dreams. It was controlled chaos at its finest where ideas which were once bouncing throughout a creative mind were harnessed and shaped into structures everyone could enjoy. It was direct insight into an author’s creativity and perception of the world and could take readers anywhere they wanted to go.
Writing became my life with memories of childhood fueling the desire to not only personally experience the world of words, but also to unleash the ability for others to experience that world. The most wonderful thing about writing is that it can be expressed in so many ways to help so many people. Whether it is by educating them, inspiring them to enter an imaginary world, or helping them dig deeper into the meaning of words with precise guidance, it is the opportunity to help them, and something I live to do! I love helping people!
It is my pleasure to help you enter this magical world of words! I hope you enjoy all the resources available on this site. They were a true joy to create!
Thank you for your response. ✨
Hello!
Well, just in case you’d like more information, here we go. An author bio is hard for me to write. I don’t have any extraordinary details that I can give you that might be astonishing. You know, something like I’m a skydiver. Not going to happen, I’m afraid of heights. I’m not a world traveler or anything like that. The best way I would describe myself is that I LOVE a simple life.
I’m an introvert at heart and think some of the best days of my life would be sitting on a porch at a cabin in the woods surrounded by my family and our dogs. (All six dogs: five which are over 60 pounds each and one 12 pound fluff.) Throw in fall weather or snow, a fireplace, and a cup of hot chocolate and I’d call that bliss. The fall weather and snow is hard to come by since we live in Florida. This is just the season of life we are in so when we do have the opportunity to get to a cabin, it’s really something we cherish.
I was born in Kentucky and grew up there. It wasn’t until I was in my twenties that I moved to other states. My husband was a high school football coach for almost twenty years and we did move around for a bit. (He’s an Assistant Head of School now so we’ve been in one place for over 13 years.) We have two sons and two daughters-in-law, and 5 amazing grandsons! Even though we live in Florida, I still remember living up north and still love the seasons!
For me, the fall season has been woven into my bones and nothing is more beautiful than seeing the wind blowing and it raining colorful leaves outside. I love everything about it: pumpkin patches, corn mazes, hay bales, fodder shocks, pumpkin spice coffees, and hot chili for dinners. It’s the cool weather and snuggling up in a comfy sweater, broken in jeans, and my cowboy boots that just makes me happy. Plus, it’s the season that ushers in Thanksgiving and Christmas, my two favorite holidays!
If you were to ask me what the most important things are in my life, I would say Jesus and family-pets are included in family. For so many years, I let the pursuit of a career keep me so busy that I didn’t take time for family. That’s always a lesson leaned the hard way, isn’t it-when you look back and wish you’d spent more time doing things with your family instead of allowing cultural chaos to pull you into its grip? Unfortunately, it takes a lot to shake me out of my stupor and I feel like I’m still combatting this on a daily basis.
You may ask, what really makes me stop and think? When my mom was dying, at one point, she started crying. I thought maybe she was afraid but she wasn’t afraid of dying. She said to me, “I don’t think I did enough for Jesus.” My mom was one of the most self-sacrificial people I knew. She lived to help others and was a beautiful example of a Christian woman. It threw me for a loop that she believed she hadn’t done enough. Likewise, with my mother-in-law, she wasn’t afraid but she just didn’t want to leave her family.
Those family members are amazing and one day I’ll get to rejoice in heaven with them (eating calorie free cookies) and tell them how they shook me into understanding that life is best lived when you have love pouring out of you in everything. Whether it’s how you treat others, how you manage your time, or how you use the gifts God gives you, everything needs the foundation of love and hope. This can only come about by a true relationship with Jesus Christ.
That’s where I am today – looking forward to a new season of life: one that God has been calling me into for years and one that I will finally allow faith to lead me into. I’m working on my priorities while I’m also enjoying who I was created to be and focusing on living life based on my God-given gifts and talents. See, we were given those gifts and talents for a reason. Our differences are what make the world not only beautiful but workable. We all bring something to the table that can make a difference for others.
May my light shine so others can experience joy. Whether it’s through my stories, my devotions, my teaching, my actions, my service, or my love for others, may my life bring God glory.
