Day 51: New

Read: Colossians 3:9-10

“Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.”

Understand:

  1. What is happening to our new self?
  2. Whose image are we created in?

Listen: As you know, C.S. Lewis is one of my favorite authors. One of his quotes that really makes me think is the following:

“Each day we are becoming a creature of splendid glory or one of unthinkable horror.”

It makes me ask myself which I am doing each day? Scripture tells us that as Christians, we put the old self away with its evil practices and that we are renewed constantly with knowledge that will help us to become more like Christ. If we are being renewed with the knowledge we need to become more like Christ then what excuse do we have if we allow ourselves to become an “unthinkable horror?” To me, this means we have the ability to make decisions that will reflect the image of Christ. We also have the ability to make decisions that don’t. We have the ability. We must exercise our decision making so we are becoming more like Christ.

Think about your day today? Which did you reflect? What could you do differently tomorrow?

Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, You have given us the ability to make choices in life. Help us to read Your word and always make choices that help us become more like You. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
